I provide an affirming, supportive assessment experience that centers and honors your lived experience as the foundation for our exploration. My goal is to help you better understand your unique brain without the debate and dismissal so often experienced in formal assessment settings.

Whether you’re in a season of self-exploration, wondering about your own neurotype following a child’s or family member’s diagnosis, or wondering if maybe the difference you’ve felt has a name, I’m here to help. You may have gone through other formal assessment processes that left you feeling dismissed, unheard, fighting for validation, and still with unanswered questions. If that’s the case, you’re not alone.

The medical model, which is what most standardized diagnostic tools are informed by, is not only deficit-based, it’s also normed on the experiences of cishet, white men. This means that people from historically marginalized communities (women, queer and gender-expansive folks, people from the global majority, and those with co-occurring diagnoses) are often misdiagnosed, mislabeled, or missed entirely because the expression of ADHD and Autism vary widely and often present in ways that aren’t captured by classic screening tools. Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a neuropsychological evaluation, and do I need one?

In short, no. Neuropsychological testing is a battery of tests that screen for things like specific learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc), challenges with memory/retention, perceptive reasoning, and executive functioning. It can also screen for mood disorders, ADHD, and autism. Neuropsychological evaluations are administered by clinical psychologists or psychiatrists and are often needed for things like Social Security Disability eligibility and standardized testing accommodations (like graduate school entrance exams).

My diagnostic process specifically looks for the presence of ADHD and/or Autism, and is centered on a foundational clinical interview. The clinical interview is a structured conversation that explores your life experiences and developmental history. I also use some supplemental quantitative questionnaires to provide additional insight and data support. If we are assessing for Autism, you will be sent information about which tests we’ll be using. You will be asked to take these before your clinical interview. There is no additional cost for these. 

Yes! As a clinically trained Master’s level provider, I am legally and ethically qualified to diagnose per the Massachusetts (LMHC) and Maine (LCPC) licensing boards. While I cannot conduct full neuropsychological testing, I can provide autism and ADHD assessments in the service of diagnosis. I can also provide accommodation letters for colleges and workplaces. Again, please check with your school or employer to confirm what documentation they require.

Once you reach out to inquire about receiving an assessment, I will reach out to offer a free 15-minute consultation to give you an overview of the process and answer any questions that you have. Once we confirm that you would like to move forward, I will send you the initial paperwork and any assessments I’d like you to complete prior to your diagnostic interview. We will schedule your interview(s). Once I’ve gathered everything, I will analyze all of the information and write your report, diagnostic letter, and/or accommodations letter. When that’s completed, we will meet for your feedback session where I will share results, answer questions, and provide recommendations.

The time commitment for evaluation is generally as follows:

  • For ADHD-only assessments, you can expect the clinical interview to last about 2 hours. Once your report is ready, we will meet again for a 50-minute feedback session. During this wrap-up meeting, I will share the results of your evaluation and answer any questions you may have. This is a collaborative meeting – my goal is for you to leave feeling validated, heard, and seen, regardless of the diagnostic outcome.
  • For Autism-only assessments, you can expect the clinical interview to last 2-3 hours. You will also be asked to complete some online assessments before the interview. These should take 60-90 minutes, though some people will be done more quickly and some may need a bit longer. There is no right or wrong length of time for this; this is just a guideline. Once your report is ready, we will meet again for a 50-minute feedback session. During this wrap-up meeting, I will share the results of your evaluation and answer any questions you may have. This is a collaborative meeting – my goal is for you to leave feeling validated, heard, and seen, regardless of the diagnostic outcome.
  • For combined ADHD/Autism assessments, you can expect the clinical interview to last 3-4 hours. You will also be asked to complete some online assessments before the interview. These should take 60-90 minutes, though some people will be done more quickly and some may need a bit longer. There is no right or wrong length of time for this; this is just a guideline. Once your report is ready, we will meet again for a 1-hour feedback session. During this wrap-up meeting, I will share the results of your evaluation and answer any questions you may have. This is a collaborative meeting – my goal is for you to leave feeling validated, heard, and seen, regardless of the diagnostic outcome.

Because there is a high co-occurrence of Autism and ADHD, I suggest pursuing a combined assessment with the following exceptions:

  • If you have an existing diagnosis of ADHD or Autism and want to take a look at the other, we can absolutely do that.
  • If you only want to look at ADHD symptoms, we can do that.

As with my therapy services, I offer assessments on a sliding scale. The Market Rate is based on my standard hourly rate, the Reduced Rate is for those with limited financial resources, and the Accessible Rate is for those who are unable to access assessments with most providers due to financial and societal barriers. I also offer 1-2 Pay What You Can assessments per quarter. Payment plans are also available. If you have any questions at all, please reach out.
